Based in Trentham, the owners had a challenging
site, wanting to build in an existing blue stone
quarry. The back of the house is just
metres away from the original quarry wall.
Extensive use of local stone, horizontal and
vertical corrugated iron and glazing emphasize
the dynamic shapes and lines, minimizing the
impact on the vista and giving a distinctive
‘Modern Australian Edge’ to the external
structure of the home.
All rooms enjoy stunning views of the tree tops
and surrounding vista.
The main entry features a 8.0m high void.
Locally sourced timber to the stairs to the
upstairs bedrooms and main bathroom. Downstairs
has the open plan living areas and kitchen with
polished concrete floors, study, master bedroom,
ensuite and large country laundry.
